Dana Whitlock, DVM, MS, DACVSMR, PT, CCRP, CVA
After obtaining her Bachelors degree at Ohio University in Zoology, Dr. Whitlock began her professional pursuit in the field of exercise physiology with a Masters degree from the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse NY followed by a Masters in physical therapy at Duke University. After practicing for 13 years as an orthopedic manual physical therapist for humans, Dr. Whitlock turned her attention to animals. She attended UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and went on to complete a small animal internship at University of Georgia, a surgical internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, an orthopedic fellowship at the University of Tennessee – running the gait/lameness lab, and surgical residency training at the University of Missouri. She is certified in canine rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee and in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute. She has been involved in the area of rehabilitation and sports medicine for the past 30 years and enjoys helping her patients achieve maximal quality of life and function. She is also knowledgable in pain management, nutrition, herbal medicine and nutraceuticals.
She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and is the only board certified specialist for small animals in the bay area.
She has published in many peer reviewed journals in the areas of exercise physiology and veterinary medicine. She has lectured and presented at national conferences in both human physical therapy and veterinary medicine.
Outside interests include spending time with her family, friends, and dogs, enjoying the amazing bay area, and cheering on the local sports teams (Warriors!) and Duke basketball.
